WINFIELD, Kan. — Southwestern overpowered Hesston College in a nonconference sweep Tuesday night, 25–16, 25–11, 25–16.
Southwestern hit .315 as a team and finished with eight total blocks and eight service aces, controlling the match on both sides of the net. Autumn Bennett led the attack with 12 kills on 16 swings (.750). Mikki Johnson added nine kills and four blocks, while Sarah Dippre chipped in five kills.
Setter Natalie Blaufuss paced the offense with 20 assists and served two aces. From the back row, Reece Likes landed a match-high four aces, Avery Riedel recorded 13 digs, and Riley Valley added 11. Macey Collier and Haleigh Weber each contributed four block assists to the Builders' net defense.
Hesston finished with a negative hitting percentage at -.021. Audrey Garrison had four kills to lead the Larks, while Layla Romero and Lydia Foster added five apiece.
The sweep gave Southwestern momentum after a tough opening weekend on the road. "I feel good. It was electric. The crowd was awesome," the coach said. "Shout out to the sports teams that came out. This past weekend, we had some tough matches against some really tough teams, but we did make progress and it was nice kind of seeing it all come together here tonight at home."
