Southwestern Heads To McPherson For KCAC Rematch

McPHERSON, Kan. — Southwestern College will look to keep its momentum rolling and tighten the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference race when the Moundbuilders travel to face McPherson College on Saturday.

Southwestern enters the matchup riding a five-game winning streak, most recently a home victory over Evangel University. Evan Barber powered the Moundbuilders in that contest with 26 points, knocking down eight 3-pointers. Wyatt Bell followed with 19 points and six assists, while Zach Hidalgo turned in a complete performance with 10 points, eight rebounds and six assists.

The game marks the second meeting this season between the conference rivals. McPherson claimed the first matchup, an 83-74 win inside Stewart Fieldhouse, despite strong outings from Barber, who scored 22 points, and Bell, who added 19. Korbin Gunn led the Bulldogs in that contest with 27 points and four rebounds, while Charles Snyder chipped in 20 points.

Saturday's contest carries major implications in the KCAC standings. McPherson (10-5, 6-3 KCAC) is tied for fourth place, while Southwestern (11-4, 5-4 KCAC) sits just behind in fifth. A win by the Moundbuilders would pull them even with the Bulldogs, while McPherson can create separation in a tightly packed conference race.

McPherson is led by head coach T.J. Eskildsen, who is in his seventh season at the helm. The Bulldogs have been strong at home and will look to repeat their earlier success against Southwestern.

Tipoff is set for 3 p.m.
