Lady Builders close KCAC slate at home against Saint Mary

WINFIELD, Kan. — Southwestern will wrap up its Conference schedule Saturday, Feb.28th, when the Lady Builders return to Stewart Field House to host University of Saint Mary at 1 p.m.

It's the second meeting this season between the teams, and the first ended in a lopsided 81-45 Saint Mary win on Nov. 22 in Leavenworth. The Spires used a decisive second half to pull away after leading 38-33 at halftime, outscoring Southwestern 43-12 over the final two quarters. Keely Barnard scored 21 points to lead Saint Mary, while Saige Grampsas added 16 and Addison Tower had 14. Southwestern was paced by Macey Pond with 12 points, Aubrey Pond with 10 and Allyson Frank with nine.

Saturday also serves as Senior Night for Southwestern, which will recognize seniors Macey Pond and Allyson Frank during halftime of the men's game.

Southwestern enters the finale 4-23 overall and 0-21 in conference play, still looking for its first home win of the season (0-10). The Lady Builders are scoring 57.9 points per game while allowing 77.6, and are led by Macey Pond's 15.7 points and 9.1 rebounds per contest. Kennedy Ford (10.4 ppg) and Breanna Goad (10.0 ppg) have also been steady scorers, with Martha De La Rosa adding 9.1 points per game.

Saint Mary comes in 18-9 overall and 15-6 in the KCAC, averaging 76.1 points per game and giving up 69.4. The programs have met regularly over the past two decades. Southwestern holds a 24-16 advantage in the series dating to 2006, but Saint Mary has won nine straight in the matchup, including three consecutive trips to Stewart Field House.
