WINFIELD, Kan. — Senior Night at Stewart Fieldhouse will feature two teams deadlocked in the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference standings as No. 5 Southwestern College hosts the University of Saint Mary on Saturday.
Both squads enter 19-8 overall and 13-8 in conference play, tied for fifth place. The Builders look to rebound from a 77-74 loss at Friends.
Southwestern averages 81.6 points per game while shooting 50.7% from the field and 39.3% from 3-point range. The Builders have also outrebounded opponents by a wide margin this season.
Wyatt Bell leads Southwestern at 18.1 points per game while shooting 49% from the field and 42.2% from beyond the arc. Evan Barber adds 14.6 points per game and has made 75 3-pointers at a 44.4% clip. Nigel John averages 14.5 points on 68.3% shooting and grabs 5.3 rebounds per contest.
Saint Mary is led by head coach Troy Brown, who has guided the program since taking over in 2015.
The Spires carry momentum into the matchup after a 79-68 victory over Ottawa and average 79.3 points per game while shooting 44.5% from the field.
Kaeden Bonner leads Saint Mary at 17.0 points per game and has made 70 3-pointers at a 41.4% clip. Jordan Brown adds 14.3 points and 4.7 rebounds per contest, while Cam Edwards contributes 12.7 points per game on 47.2% shooting. Terrius Walker provides 9.8 points and 4.8 rebounds per game in the frontcourt.
The Moundbuilders' seniors — Jayden Bridgeman, Isaac Hoberecht, Emery Eberhard, Wyatt Bell, Austin Hilton and Zach Hildago — will be recognized at halftime of the women's game.
With identical records and postseason positioning at stake, Saturday's matchup features two evenly matched teams battling in the closing stretch of KCAC play.
