WINFIELD, Kan. — Southwestern wrapped up its conference schedule Saturday afternoon at Stewart Field House, falling to Saint Mary, 64-52, on Senior Night.

The Lady Builders honored seniors Macey Pond and Allyson Frank. Pond delivered a double-double in her final home appearance, finishing with 18 points and 12 rebounds to lead Southwestern. She also recorded three steals and two blocks. Frank added seven points and three rebounds.

Southwestern came out with early momentum, but Saint Mary closed the first quarter in front, 14-11.

The Spires stretched the margin before halftime behind perimeter shooting, taking a 33-23 lead into the break. Summer Wieneke hit six 3-pointers in the win and finished with 21 points, while Keely Barnard added 13 points on three 3s for Saint Mary.

The Lady Builders answered after halftime, winning the third quarter 19-13 to pull within 46-42 heading to the fourth. Pond and Kennedy Ford helped power the push, and Southwestern finished with a 41-37 rebounding edge as Pond and Ford each grabbed 12 boards.

But Saint Mary regained control in the final period, outscoring Southwestern 18-10 to close it out. Saige Grampsas contributed six points, 10 rebounds and six assists for the Spires.

Ford totaled eight points for Southwestern, and Monroe Swope chipped in eight off the bench.

Southwestern finished the regular season 4-24 overall and 0-22 in conference play. Saint Mary improved to 19-9 overall and 16-6 in league action. A postseason story will be posted on buildersports.com.
