LINDSBORG, Kan. — Colbi Rignell scored 13 points and dished out 13 assists as Bethany (Kan.) pulled away in the middle quarters and beat Southwestern 78-53 in a KCAC women's basketball game Saturday afternoon.
Southwestern (4-20, 0-18) got 11 points apiece from Macey Pond and Kennedy Ford, but the Lady Builders couldn't keep pace after a 16-16 tie early in the second quarter. Bethany (16-7, 14-4) closed the half on a surge and led 37-26 at the break, then outscored Southwestern 24-13 in the third to push the margin to 61-39 entering the fourth.
Pond finished with nine rebounds, five assists and two steals to go with her 11 points. Ford hit three 3-pointers on the way to 11, and Emma Parker added nine points with three steals. Southwestern shot 30.2% (19 of 63) from the field and 26.5% (9 of 34) from 3-point range.
Bethany shot 50.8% (31 of 61) overall and 45.5% (10 of 22) from beyond the arc, with Halle Jones and Lilyan Walden scoring 12 points each. Hannah Moss added 11 points and Becca Unruh scored 10 as the Swedes recorded 24 assists and got 32 points from their bench.
Southwestern remains on the road for another conference test Wednesday, Feb. 11, traveling to Springfield, Mo., to face No. 17 Evangel at 5:30 p.m.
