WICHITA, Kan. — The Southwestern College baseball team will look to build momentum from its most recent win when the Moundbuilders travel to face Friends University on Wednesday, March 11. First pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m.
Southwestern enters the midweek KCAC matchup with a 6-16 overall record and a 3-10 mark in conference play. The Moundbuilders salvaged the final game of their most recent series against Evangel University, earning an 8-2 victory behind a complete-game effort from right-hander Jaden Hensley.
Offensively, Southwestern has been led by Raisean Dorsey, who is batting .400 with 32 hits, eight doubles and three home runs while driving in 21 runs through 22 games. Sam Benz has also been a steady presence at the plate, hitting .325 with seven doubles and 25 hits, while Koda Larsen is batting .313 with 21 hits and a home run.
On the mound, Hensley has been one of the Moundbuilders' most reliable arms this season. The right-hander holds a 2-1 record with a 4.03 ERA and 27 strikeouts in 29 innings pitched, including the complete game in Southwestern's latest win.
Friends enters Wednesday's contest with an 11-12 overall record and a 3-3 mark in KCAC play. The Falcons are coming off a series against McPherson College in which they won two of the three games.
Friends has featured a potent offensive lineup. Players such as Bernie Socarras, Zeke Henson and Carlos Rodriguez have paced the Falcons at the plate, helping the team produce strong offensive numbers.
Wednesday's matchup gives Southwestern an opportunity to gain ground in conference play while facing a Friends squad that has been competitive early in the KCAC schedule.
