LINDSBORG, Kan. — Southwestern will head north this weekend for a three-game Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference series against Bethany College at Phillip Anderson Field. The series features two teams looking to gain momentum in conference play as the Moundbuilders and Swedes meet for three games in Lindsborg.
Southwestern enters the series at 6-17 overall and 3-11 in KCAC play, while Bethany comes in 9-16 overall and 3-8 in conference games.
Southwestern Offense
The Moundbuilders have several hitters producing strong numbers at the plate this season. Raisean Dorsey leads Southwestern with a .405 batting average, collecting 34 hits, nine doubles, three home runs, and a team-best 22 RBI through 23 games.
Sam Benz is also a key contributor, hitting .321 with 26 hits and 13 stolen bases, while Brice Nittler (.345) and Koda Larsen (.319) continue to provide production throughout the lineup.
Power has come from multiple spots as well, with Cole Van Stone adding three home runs and 11 RBI while hitting .278 on the season.
Southwestern Pitching
On the mound, Jaden Hensley has been a bright spot for Southwestern, posting a 2-1 record with a 4.03 ERA and 27 strikeouts in 29 innings.
The Moundbuilders will also look for innings from arms such as Colton Jones (5.40 ERA) and Brock Cross, who has made multiple starts this season.
Scouting Bethany
Fernando Bones leads the Swedes with a .324 average and 22 hits, while Conner Balmer (.304) has provided power with three home runs and 12 RBI.
Additional offensive production comes from Stephen Kent, who has three home runs and 13 RBI, and Eduardo Tarafa, who is hitting .293 with seven doubles.
On the mound, Wesly Martinez has been a primary starter for Bethany, carrying a 2-5 record with a 6.59 ERA across 41 innings.
Series Outlook
Both teams have shown the ability to score runs, but limiting offense will likely be key during the three-game set. Southwestern will aim to build on its offensive production while getting quality innings from its starting rotation as the Moundbuilders look to climb the KCAC standings against the Swedes.
