WINFIELD, Kan. — Southwestern College men's soccer returns to the road Saturday, Sept. 19, for its second Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference match of the season against York University at the York Soccer Complex.
Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
Southwestern enters the match 0-1 in KCAC play after opening its conference schedule against Friends University. York will make its conference debut Saturday and enters the matchup with a 3-1 overall record.
The Moundbuilders have had three different goal scorers through their first five matches. Nicola Antiglio, Adrian Gimenez and Bernabe Lopez have each scored once this season.
Gimenez has been one of Southwestern's most active players in the attack, recording a team-high four shots while starting all five matches. Lopez has added three shots, while Antiglio has converted his lone shot on goal into a goal.
Cooper Bates leads Southwestern with two assists while starting all five matches and logging 392 minutes. Luke Anderson has also recorded an assist and has put two of his three shots on goal.
Will Jansen has placed both of his shots on goal this season while starting all five matches. Denis Martinez has also put two of his three attempts on target.
Franco Guazzotti has started all five matches in goal for the Moundbuilders.
York enters conference play after winning three of its first four matches. The Panthers have scored 16 goals and recorded 68 shots, including 37 on goal.
Asaph Achero leads York with five goals and 10 points. Tim Schafer has added three goals and one assist, while Finlay Lee and Felipe Cevallos have each scored twice. Alex Hulme has contributed one goal and two assists.
Jamie Watt has started all four matches in goal for the Panthers and has recorded nine saves.
Southwestern and York also met in the KCAC quarterfinals last season, with York earning a 2-1 overtime win. Jack Bagley-Etheridge gave the Moundbuilders a 1-0 lead in the ninth minute before York tied the match in the 14th. The score remained tied through regulation before Archford Manduvi scored the game-winning goal in the 94th minute.
Saturday's match gives Southwestern another opportunity to build momentum early in KCAC play.
