WINFIELD, Kan. — Southwestern College men's soccer continues Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference play Wednesday as the Moundbuilders travel to Leavenworth to face the University of Saint Mary.
Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. at Charles Berkel Memorial Stadium. Southwestern enters the match 0-2 in conference play, while Saint Mary is 1-1.
Southwestern will look to create opportunities behind Nicola Antiglio, Adrian Gimenez and Bernabe Lopez, who each have scored this season. Antiglio, Gimenez and Lopez have also started all six matches for the Moundbuilders.
Freshman goalkeeper Franco Guazzotti has started all six matches and has handled the majority of the work in goal for Southwestern.
Saint Mary enters Wednesday's matchup after a 2-0 win over Tabor. Luis Rincon leads the Spires with two goals, while Alfie Scandle has recorded one goal and one assist. Rylan Nowak has also scored once this season after finding the net against Tabor.
Xavier Ezell has started all six matches in goal for Saint Mary.
The two teams met last season in Winfield, with Southwestern earning a 6-2 victory. The Builders scored all six of their goals in the first half, led by two goals each from Marcos Benavidez, Bernabe Lopez and Jack Bagley-Etheridge. Saint Mary responded with two goals in the second half.
Southwestern will look to stay organized defensively and create chances early as the Moundbuilders continue conference play on the road.
Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 23, in Leavenworth, Kansas.
