WINFIELD, Kan. — Southwestern College men's soccer returns home Wednesday for a Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference matchup against No. 1 Oklahoma Wesleyan University at Richard L. Jantz Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
The Moundbuilders enter the contest with momentum after earning a 2-0 road victory over Sterling College on Saturday. The win moved Southwestern to 1-3 in conference play.
Adrian Gimenez opened the scoring against Sterling off an assist from Cooper Bates before Christian Banda added the second goal with help from Eamon Shaw. Southwestern's defense held Sterling scoreless to secure the shutout victory.
Bernabe Lopez leads Southwestern offensively through eight matches with five points on two goals and one assist. Gimenez has also scored twice this season and recorded the game-winning goal against Sterling.
Bates has helped create scoring opportunities throughout the season and leads the Moundbuilders with three assists. Nicola Antiglio and Banda have each added a goal, while Luke Anderson and Shaw have contributed assists.
Franco Guazzotti has started all eight matches in goal for Southwestern and will help lead the Moundbuilder defense against an Oklahoma Wesleyan attack that has produced several scoring threats.
The Eagles enter Wednesday's matchup with a 3-1 conference record and are coming off an 11-0 victory over Bethel College.
Nasreddine Benbella leads Oklahoma Wesleyan with 14 points through seven appearances, recording five goals and four assists. Mateja Bozic has also scored five goals, while Eguzki Hashimoto has added four goals and two assists.
Carter Ligi has scored four goals for the Eagles, while Ryunsokue Masuzuka has recorded three goals and two assists.
Southwestern and Oklahoma Wesleyan last met in 2025, when the Eagles earned a 3-0 victory over the Moundbuilders.
Wednesday's matchup gives Southwestern an opportunity to build off its road shutout while returning to Richard L. Jantz Stadium for another KCAC contest.
Kickoff between Southwestern and No. 1 Oklahoma Wesleyan is set for 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 30, in Winfield.
