WINFIELD, Kan. — Southwestern College volleyball will return to the court Tuesday as the Builders travel to face Randall University in a non-conference matchup at 6 p.m. inside the Randall Activities Center.
Southwestern enters the match with a 3-4 overall record, while Randall is 1-3. The contest will be the Builders' third true road match of the season as they look to bounce back from Saturday's four-set loss at Haskell Indian Nations University.
The Builders have shown resilience early in the season, including a pair of five-set victories. Southwestern rallied from a two-set deficit to defeat Doane University on Aug. 29 before earning another five-set win against Philander Smith University on Sept. 4. The Builders also defeated Cottey College in four sets.
Southwestern has used a balanced attack through seven matches. Macey Collier leads the team with 60 kills while hitting .296 and has also recorded a team-high 18 total blocks. Kamryn Deffebaugh has added 50 kills.
Autumn Bennett has provided another efficient option with 29 kills and a .247 hitting percentage, while Haleigh Weber has contributed 28 kills and 15 total blocks.
Natalie Blaufuss and Ayden Joely-Petroff have handled most of the setting duties. Blaufuss leads Southwestern with 140 assists, while Joely-Petroff has 78. Both have also been productive from the service line, combining for 27 aces.
Serving has been a key part of Southwestern's style, with the Builders using aggressive pressure to disrupt opponents. That approach has produced 59 aces, though limiting service errors will be important against Randall.
Defensively, Brooklyn Milleson has anchored the back row with 116 digs, while Ariel Heinrich has added 72. Southwestern has also received steady defensive production from Blaufuss and Johnson.
Randall enters Tuesday looking to find more consistency on offense. Jordan Hardesty has been the Saints' top attacking option with 28 kills while hitting .227. Kimberly Phelps and Ella Seay have also been regular contributors at the net.
Aubree Rutledge has directed much of Randall's offense with 61 assists and has been especially effective from the service line with 12 aces. Hardesty and Taryn Chaffee have led the Saints defensively in the back row.
The matchup could hinge on serve and receive. Both teams have shown a willingness to attack from behind the service line, making first-contact execution an important factor in determining which side can stay in system.
Southwestern will also look to establish its front-row depth early. With Collier, Deffebaugh, Bennett and Weber all capable of producing offensively, the Builders have several options to spread the attack and keep Randall's block from settling into favorable matchups.
The Builders will also look to repeat their success from the programs' previous meeting. Southwestern swept Randall on Oct. 30, 2025, winning 25-19, 25-13 and 25-23.
Tuesday's contest gives Southwestern an opportunity to return to .500 and earn its first true road victory of the season. First serve is scheduled for 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 8, at the Randall Activities Center in Moore, Oklahoma.
