Chris Dawson is entering his first season at the helm of the Southwestern College Baseball program in 2022-23.

Dawson arrives in Winfield after a three-year run as an assistant for a massively successful program at McPherson College within the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC). In those years, there was improvement in regards to the Bulldogs' success.

In 2020, before the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, McPherson was off to an 18-7 start before the season was cancelled. Then, in 2021, it was a 38-15 showing from the team which culminated in an appearance at the NAIA Opening Round. In the final season of his tenure with the Bulldogs, they reached new heights by winning 40 games for the first time in his stead. In addition, they reached the NAIA Opening Round for the second straight year.
