Southwestern College

Joey Mars joined the Southwestern College football coaching staff in 2025 and serves as a graduate assistant working with the Moundbuilders’ linebackers. He recruits the Oklahoma City area.

In his first season on the Southwestern coaching staff, Mars helped develop a linebacker unit that produced two all-conference selections in DreShaun Flowers and Corbin Williams.

Mars transitioned into coaching following a successful collegiate playing career in which he was a four-year starter. During his career, he earned all-conference recognition three times, receiving All-KCAC honors at Avila University in 2022 (Honorable Mention Defense, Linebacker) and at Southwestern College in 2024 (Second-Team Defense, Linebacker). In 2023, Mars earned Second Team All-Defense in the Heart of America Conference at William Penn University. 

A native of Piedmont, Oklahoma, Mars earned his degree in business administration from Southwestern College in 2025. He is currently pursuing a Master of Business Administration at Southwestern.
