GETTING TO KNOW PAUL...
As a Junior (2013):  Recorded 104 tackles (69 solo, 35 assist), 22 of which were for a loss of a combined 109.5 yards...Also finished the season with 8.5 sacks for a loss of 51 yards...Snatched his only interception of the 2013 season in an 85-36 win over Bethel on Oct. 19...Recovered four fumbles and forced four more...Named to the KCAC All-Defensive Second Team

As a Sophomore (2012):  Led the team in tackles with 103. Mata had 15.5 tackles for loss which includes his three sacks. Mata also had a forced fumble and two fumble recoveries. 

As a Freshman (2011): Played in four games in his freshman season...Finished the season with 10 tackles (3 solo, 7 assist).

Before Southwestern:
Played football at R.L. Turner High School in Texas...Home of the Lions...Named 1st Team All-District Linebacker...2nd Team All-State Academic Team.
