Avery Riedel begins her coaching career at Southwestern College after an outstanding four-year playing career with the Moundbuilders. A native of Augusta, Kansas, Riedel played varsity volleyball at Southwestern from 2022–2026, serving two seasons as the team's libero and earning the role of team captain during her senior season.
Throughout her collegiate career, Riedel established herself as one of the program's most consistent defensive players, recording more than 1,000 career digs. She was also recognized for her excellence in the classroom, earning KCAC Scholar-Athlete honors all four years and being named an NAIA Scholar-Athlete three times.
Riedel's volleyball journey began at the age of 13, where she competed in both club and school volleyball for five years before continuing her career at Southwestern. During the spring of her senior year, she gained valuable coaching experience by assisting the Moundbuilders during two spring tournaments, helping guide and mentor the team from the sidelines.
In addition to her experience at Southwestern, Riedel has coached with Winfield High School and the Kansas Volleyball Showcase (KSVB Showcase), further developing her passion for teaching the game and working with student-athletes.
Riedel is now entering her first year of graduate school at Southwestern College, Riedel is pursuing her master's degree in School Leadership (Principal Program). She is excited to transition into a coaching role, continue serving the Moundbuilders volleyball program, and experience the game from a new perspective while helping develop the next generation of student-athletes.
