Ken Brokaw

Coach Ken Brokaw is originally from a small town in Michigan and brings more than a decade of experience and passion to the court. He is a graduate of Siena Heights University with a bachelor’s degree. Brokaw was first inspired to pursue coaching by his high school track coach whose belief and encouragement made a life-changing impact. That experience sparked a lifelong commitment to mentoring athletes and helping them reach their full potential.

Now in his 13th year of coaching volleyball, Coach Brokaw has led more than 40 teams across high school, club, and collegiate levels. He began his coaching career in track and field before transitioning into volleyball, spending four years at Vandercook Lake High School, where the program earned its first district title in 35 years and first conference title in 37 years. During that time, he also coached at Washtenaw Community College and Adrian College. His full-time volleyball career began at Olivet College with the men’s program, where he rewrote the record books and established himself as the successful coach in program history. Following Olivet, Brokaw spent a season as an assistant coach at Graceland University under legendary coach Stew McDole.

Throughout his career, Coach Brokaw has guided teams to remarkable achievements, including winning a division championship at AAU Nationals, coaching multiple all-state pole vaulters in track and field, and watching school records fall. His high school coaching record stands at 112-42-9, highlighted by a district and conference championship run and recognition as the 2018 Regional Coach of the Year. At the collegiate level, his teams set program records for wins, aces, digs, blocks, and attacks, while also producing numerous individual record-breakers.

For Coach Brokaw, the highlights go beyond trophies and titles. Some of their most cherished memories include the thrill of big wins, like district and conference championships, as well as the unique team-bonding traditions such as mystery trips, which have become a hallmark of his coaching journey. Driven by a desire to inspire athletes the way they were once inspired, Coach Brokaw continues to build a legacy of excellence, mentorship, and passion for the game.
