Dakota Soukup Named Head Men's and Women's Golf Coach at Southwestern College

WINFIELD, Kan. – The Southwestern College athletic department is pleased to announce the hiring of Dakota Soukup as the new men's and women's golf coach for 2022-23 and beyond.

"The Southwestern College golf program is very excited to welcome Dakota Soukup as the new Head Coach for both the men's and women's golf teams," said Director of Athletics, Jamie Adams. "Coach Soukup is returning to his Winfield roots with a great knowledge of golf in the NAIA and in the Midwest. In addition, he is an engaging coach who brings energy and insight to his oversight of both teams. I am very excited to see the trajectory of our golf program under the direction of Coach Soukup's leadership."

Soukup, a graduate of Winfield HS in 2015, brings a wealth of collegiate playing and coaching experience to the Moundbuilder teams, having been the first ever men's golf recruit at Park University (Mo.), where he played all four years of his collegiate career. That time included an appearance in the Heart of America Athletic Conference Championships in 2018. He then moved on to the assistant coaching ranks at Park, where he spent the next year and a half pouring into student-athletes.

He has since worked as a head golf professional at golf clubs in both Illinois and Michigan, passing on his knowledge of the game of golf to those wanting to excel at the sport.

"I am excited to be the Head Men's and Women's Golf Coach at Southwestern College," said Soukup. "I have been searching for my first opportunity to be a full-time collegiate coach, and I am beyond thankful for Athletic Director Jamie Adams taking a chance on me and giving me this opportunity. I can't wait to get the season started and to lead this program!"

In addition, Southwestern is greatly thankful for the efforts of Bill Stinson to lead the men's and women's golf programs over the last three seasons. We wish him the best in his future endeavors.

"The Builder family would like to thank Coach Bill Stinson for his commitment to the golf program over the last few years," stated Adams. "His dedication to the golf teams and to Southwestern College cannot be overstated. As a Hall of Fame athlete for Southwestern, Bill was committed to giving his student-athletes a great experience here at SC."

Soukup will put his stamp on a men's golf program that finished fifth out of 10 Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) schools at the KCAC Championships in Spring of 2022, as well as a women's program who sports the likes of Freshman standout Ashlee Johnson for her second year in 2022-23.
