WINFIELD, Kan. – The Southwestern College athletic department is pleased to announce the arrival of Dae'Trell Gordon as the Assistant Track & Field Coach for Throws.

"I'm happy and honored for Coach Trell to join our staff, said Director of Track & Field, Tim Thompson. "He is energetic and passionate about building relationships. His faith-inspired mentality and elite-level athletic experiences will elevate our program to provide a quality college experience."

Gordon, a Maryland native, comes to Southwestern after having completed his Bachelor's in Sports Management at Wichita State University in the Spring of 2022. He competed as a member of their indoor and outdoor track & field squads, earning an American Athletic Conference Championship in his senior season. He threw shot put, discus, weight throw and the hammer during his time in college, as well. He was given the Shocker Spirit Award, which is awarded to the most enthusiastic athlete for the Shockers each year.

Prior to his WSU career, he competed at nearby Cowley Community College in Arkansas City. In both years that he competed at the college, he was a two-time All-American and three-time All-Conference honoree.

He brings a wealth of experience as a highly competitive student-athlete who also has found great success in the classroom. At Wichita State, he was named to the AD Honor Roll each semester, which showed his dedication to his education.
