5/25/2023 8:44:00 PM

MARION, Ind – Southwestern College's men's and women's outdoor track squads sent athletes to the NAIA Outdoor Track & Field Championships, hosted by Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion, Ind. Both 4x100m Relay squads for the Builders were in attendance, while Keyshawn Jones was the lone individual competitor in the 100m Dash for the men.

On Wednesday afternoon, the two 4x100m Relay outfits competed back-to-back, as the women began the day with an impressive 15th-place showing. The team, made up of Rachel Booker, Meliah Hanna, Kyah Hill and Lauryn Terry, completed the race in 47.27 seconds, resetting their program record that they accomplished earlier this season. Thirty total teams raced in the event on the women's side.

The men's group followed up that top-notch performance with a 21st-place finish. Their time of 41.16 seconds placed them among the middle of the 41-team pack in the event. K. Jones, Kiare Worthy, Nick Jones and Phil Jones made up the roster for the 4x100m Relay team at the national meet.

On Thursday, K. Jones' ran the 100m Dash, and posted a clip that ended up at 10.74 seconds. The time was good enough to place him 34th out of 39 in an always competitive sprint event at the national level.

The performances by the Moundbuilder athletes concluded their season on a high note, as they showed that they have what it takes to compete with the best in the nation. Much more is yet to come with a new leader—James Bowlin—set to take the reigns of SC T&F and Cross Country heading into 2023-24.
