STERLING, KAN. – On Friday afternoon, October 13th, the Southwestern College men's soccer team went on the road to battle Sterling College at Sterling, Kan. A windy game ended in a 3-1 loss for the Builders.
The game started with a high-pressuring offense on the Builder side as they attacked the Warriors with shots by Eduardo Gonzalez and Jesus Osornio. Unfortunately, the Warriors punished the Builders by scoring the game's first goal in the 30th minute. The game continued, and the Warriors of Sterling College used their momentum to add another goal to their score in the 38th minute. The new score 2-0 Sterling.
The Builders knew that they had to get something going before halftime. In the 43rd minute, Nalan Kentner received a ball high, set the ball up right in front of him, and curved the ball in the bottom left corner to change the score to 2-1.
Coming out of halftime, the Warriors seemed to have more fight in them as they created more chances in the second half. In the 77th minute, Sterling College added their last and final goal to win the game 3-1.
The Builders (5-8-0, 3-6-0) are now preparing to host play to Evangel University on Wednesday, October 18th at 7:30, at Richard L. Jantz Stadium in Winfield, Kan., as they hope to return to the winning side in their last four Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) regular games of the season.
