WICHITA, Kan – In the first conference game of the Kessinger Division this season, the (6)Builders (6-1) were unable to overcome the Falcons (6-1) 372 yards of total offense, and Southwestern was held to 277 total yards of offense. Unable to gain momentum, the Builders fell 20-35 on the road, starting conference play at 0-1.

The first quarter started with Friends University showing their offensive prowess, culminating in a 20-yard field goal by Cole Thompson. The Falcons managed an 8-play, 77-yard drive that set the tone for the game, taking an early 3-0 lead.

The second quarter saw the Falcons continuing their dominance, as K'Vonte Baker rushed for a 23-yard touchdown, extending their lead to 10-0. SC then gave up a safety, falling behind 12-0.

In the third quarter, Friends extended their lead with a 49-yard field goal by Cole Thompson, making it 15-0. Southwestern finally managed to get on the board with a 32-yard touchdown pass from Braden Howell to Andre Jones, 15-7. However, Friends responded, as Baker scored on a 3-yard run, taking a 21-7 lead.

The fourth quarter saw Friends University pulling away, with Caden Lee scoring on a 34-yard pass from K'Vonte Baker, furthering their lead to 28-7. SC made an effort to mount a comeback, with Howell connecting with Josh Edson for a 16-yard touchdown pass, bringing the score to 28-14. But Friends answered right back, as Jett Cheatham caught a 41-yard touchdown pass from Baker, extending their lead to 35-14.

Southwestern managed one more touchdown, as  Howell connected with Edson again for an 11-yard pass, for a final of 35-20.

Despite the loss, Southwestern's Howell had an impressive game, completing 15 of 24 passes for 166 yards and two touchdowns. However, Friends University's defense, along with their powerful offense, ultimately proved to be the deciding factor in the game.
