KANSAS CITY, Mo – Saturday, Nov. 18, 2023, (13) Southwestern (7-0,2-0) stayed undefeated, dominating Avila University (1-3, 0-2), 109-63.
Southwestern built a nine-point lead in the first four minutes holding Avila, 15-6. The Builder defense would hold the Eagles under double digits to the midway point of the first half, 25 -10, and building a 15-point lead at the same time.
Southwestern's largest lead of the game was a 48-point gap, burying Avila's chances for a comeback. Â
Andrew O'Brien continues to be the fuel igniting the Moundbuilder offense. O'Brien's 21 points, six rebounds, seven assists, and two steals led the charge on the road at Avila and kept the Eagles at bay. O'Brien is among the top leaders in the country in multiple categories, currently 26
th in the nation in overall rebounds and second in the nation in assist to turnover ratio.
Cevin Clark finished with a team high 28 points, shooting an impressive 9-of-13 from the field and sinking 4 of 7 three-pointers. Clark is currently the third leading scorer in the nation at 28.9 points per game.
Zach Hidalgo led the Builders in rebounds with 10,
Mason Thiessen added nine rebounds, six points. The Builders out rebounded Avila 41-34.
And the spark off the bench continues to be
Justin DeMaria who dropped in 19 points, three rebounds.
Trey White finished with eight points, three rebounds and two assists.
Wyatt Bell also added six points and six rebounds.

The Moundbuilders shot an outstanding 58.7% from the field, and an impressive, 17 of 30, 56.7% from beyond the arc for the game.
