Wichita, Kan. – On Saturday, December 9
th, the women's basketball squad traveled north to battle the Eagles of Friends University in Wichita, Kan. The Builders could not keep up with the potent Friends offense, ending 2023 with an 88-45 loss.
The Builders struggled from the start, as they found themselves down by twelve, 26-14 after the first quarter. Southwestern offense faced difficulties, shooting 37.50% from the field and 33.33% from the 3-Pointer line.
The second quarter did not bring any change as the Builders continued to struggle against the Eagles losing the second quarter 23-8.
Christy Wiebe who led the Builders in points (10) and rebounds (6) was not able to stop what was coming in the second half.
Overwhelmed by the abilities of the Eagles, the Builders dropped the third and fourth quarter 21-8, and 18-15 to lose the game 88-15 against Friends University.
The Builders (0-10, 0-6 KCAC) had their final KCAC conference game for the year 2023 and will be back in action when they battle Kansas Wesleyan University on January 3rd, 2024, at 5:00 pm at Stewart Field House in Winfield, Kan.
