Builder Men's Soccer Suffers a Hard-Fought Defeat Against Tabor College, 4-3.

WINFIELD, KAN. – On Saturday afternoon, September 23rd, the Builders of Southwestern College hosted play against the visiting Bluejays of Tabor College at Richard L. Jantz Stadium in Winfield, Kan. A hard-fought battle ended in a 4-3 loss for the Moundbuilders.

The game started even as both teams had opportunities to take the lead. Shots by Nalan Kentner and Isaac Hopkins were saved by the Bluejays goalkeeper.
Unfortunately, the Bluejays used one of their chances to score the first goal of the game in the 34th minute of play.
Two minutes later,Mamadou Diarra responded and used his chance to tie the game 1-1 after Kentner assisted him.

Just before halftime, in the 39th minute of play, the Bluejays of Tabor College scored another goal to take back the lead, 2-1.

Coming back after halftime, the game started to heat up. Jack Etheridge, who already had a yellow card from the first half, received his second one and, therefore, a red card. Now down to 10 men, the Builders had to push even more to return to the game.
Tabor College had a different plan and continued their goal-scoring as Abwe Abendelwa scored the third goal for the Bluejays to improve their lead, 3-1.

The Builders, down by two goals, had to fight their way back into the game.Hector Hernandez started the comeback as he scored in the 62nd minute after an assist by Carlos Cantu to reduce the Bluejays lead to 3-2. Then, in the 64th minute of play, the Builders received a penalty kick. Diarra walked up, shot the ball, and scored to tie the game, 3-3.
Unfortunately, the Bluejays were not done yet and scored their final goal in the 70th minute to win the game 4-3.

The Builders (2-5-1. 1-2 KCAC) are now preparing to face Ottawa University on Wednesday, September 27th at 7:30 p.m. in Ottawa, Kan., hoping for a win to get back on track.
