WINFIELD, KAN. – On Wednesday, January 11th, the Southwestern College women's basketball squad trailed the game, 74-46, to the visitors of Bethany College at Stewart Field House in Winfield, Kan.
The Swedes of Bethany College set the tone early on, shooting 46.67% from the field in the first quarter, while the Builders struggled, shooting 25% from the field and 16.67% from the 3-Pointer line. After being down 18-7, the Builders had to improve after the first quarter to get back into the game.
The second quarter went in favor of the Builders, as they held the Swedes to only 6 points while scoring 12 points themselves. Still shooting 25% from the field in the second quarter, the Builders closed the gap as they went into halftime down by only 5 points, 24-19.
The third quarter had some excitement in it, as the Builders pushed their offense to come back to a 34-31 score game as they shot an impressive 50% from the field and 75% from the 3-Pointer line. Unfortunately, the Swedes responded within the third quarter and won the quarter 30-15.
In the fourth quarter, the Swedes kept pushing and secured the win, 74-46.
Callie Scott showed an impressive performance as she led the Builder's offense with 12 points and 6 rebounds.
Defensively, the Builders were led by
Macey Pond, who led the team with 9 rebounds. She also scored 10 points offensively.
The Builders will be back on January 13th at 3:00 p.m. as they battle Ottawa University on the road.
