OTTAWA, Kan. — Southwestern College (13-2, 8-2) secured a decisive 95-75 victory over the Ottawa University Braves (10-6, 5-5) on the road in Wilson Field House.
Southwestern took control early, showcasing an impressive 48.65 shooting percentage from the field. The Builders made seven three pointers as a team in the first half, 46.67% from beyond the arc. At the half,
Cevin Clark had 11 points,
Jarvis Jennings had 11 points, and
Justin DeMaria dropped in 10 points, for a 51-41 Builder lead.
Ottawa wasn't out of it in the first half, shooting a respectable 17-38, 44.74% from the field, behind the scoring of Deondre Buggage, who had 17 first half points.
Southwestern continued their dominance in the second half, never allowing the Braves closer than seven points, and building as much as a 20-point lead. The Moundbuilders held a double-digit lead for the final 12 minutes of the game, defeating the Braves, 95-75.
The Builder defense held Ottawa to only 25.71% shooting in the second half and held them to 28.57% from beyond the arc.
Clark finished with 26 points. Jennings finished with 15 points and 11 big rebounds. DeMaria had 15 points for the game.
Zach Hidalgo had 12 points and 10 rebounds.
Mason Thiessen led the Builders in rebounds with 13 boards and nine points.
The Builders are back in action Wednesday, Jan. 17, against the University of Saint Mary (7-9, 3-7), tip off at 7pm inside Historic Stewart Field House.
