SC Women's Basketball Falls to York University, 79-54

YORK, NEB. – On Saturday, January 27th, the Southwestern College women's basketball squad made their way up north to battle the Panthers of York University in York, Neb. A game where the Builders could not find their game rhythm ended in a 79-54 loss for Southwestern.

A high-scoring first quarter started in favor of the Panthers, who took the lead 28-20 with a field goal percentage of 47.62%, whereas the Builders earned a field goal percentage of 43.75%.

Going into the second quarter, the Builders struggled from the beginning, only scoring three points. A poor field goal percentage of 5.88% was not enough to create any danger for the Panthers. On the other side, the Panthers continued their run by scoring 15 points to lead the game at halftime.

The Builders improved in the third quarter, earning 17 points to start a comeback. 31.25% from the field and a 66.67% free throw percentage. On the other side, the Panthers earned 50.00% from the field scoring 25 points.

The Builders were able to win the last quarter 14-11 but could not stop the Panthers from winning the game 79-54.

Kennedy Ford led the Builders offensively as she scored 11 points. Defensively, the Builders were led by Christy Wiebe, who had 13 rebounds.

The Builders will be back in action on Wednesday, January 31st, when they battle Avila University at Stewart Field House in Winfield, Kan.
