WINFIELD, Kan. – In a thrilling conference showdown at Richard L. Jantz Stadium, the Southwestern College Moundbuilders defeated the Ottawa Braves, 3-2. The Builders are now currently on a 3-game conference win streak.
The match began with intensity, and the Moundbuilders wasted no time, establishing a 3-1 lead in the first half. Last game's top scorer,
Jack Bagley-Etheridge picked up where he left off, and started the scoring for SC in the 19th minute in the first half.
Marcos Benavidez followed suit with a goal of his own, and
Carlos Cantu netted the game-winner in the 30th minute in the first half. Both Bagley-Etheridge and Benavidez not only contributed goals but also provided critical assists on the night.
Ottawa fought back in the second half, but Moundbuilders' goalie
Andre Luiten made several crucial saves to fend off the Brave's advances ensuring the win. The Moundbuilders will host Bethel College for Homecoming, Ocotber 5th at 8:00 PM
