WINFIELD, Kan. — The Southwestern College Moundbuilders (5-6-1, 5-3-1) clinched a decisive 2-0 victory against the Sterling Warriors(2-8).
Southwestern struck first.
Connor Inlow opened the scoring at the 20:10 mark of the first half, with an assist from
Hue Alzate. This early goal set the tone for the Moundbuilders, who held a 1-0 lead at halftime.
Inlow continued his impressive performance by scoring again just after the break at 46:33, this time assisted by
Eduardo Gonzalez, solidifying the Moundbuilders' advantage at 2-0.
Southwestern's defense, led by goalkeeper
Andre Luiten, was instrumental in the victory. Luiten played the full 90 minutes, recording five saves and earning a well-deserved shutout. His efforts, combined with strong defensive plays from
Adrian Gimenez,
Hector Hernandez, and
Carlos Villalba, effectively thwarted Sterling's attempts to get on the scoreboard.
