MCPHERSON, Kan. – The Southwestern College Lady Builders earned their first Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) win of the season, defeating the McPherson College Bulldogs, 65-58, at Holman Fieldhouse.
The victory was not only a milestone for the team but also a personal achievement for Head Coach
Chardonnae Parker, who secured her first career win as the Lady Builders' head coach.
Southwestern College (1-2), (1-0) led 26-21 at halftime and held off a late rally from McPherson (0-6, 0-1 KCAC) to close out the game. Freshman guard
Jerranay Echols was the star of the night, scoring a game-high 20 points. She was a key factor in the Lady Builders' offensive attack and helped maintain a lead throughout the contest.
Christy Wiebe also played a crucial role, contributing 10 points and grabbing 12 rebounds to lead the Lady Builders in that department.
Hunter Garcia chipped in with 7 points and 5 rebounds, while
Mia Kittner added 6 points and 6 rebounds.
The Lady Builders will look to carry their momentum forward as they head to North Newton, Kansas, for a matchup against Bethel College on November 20, 2024.
