WINFIELD, KAN. - In a thrilling baseball showdown at Broadway Sports Complex in Winfield, Kan., the Southwestern College Baseball squad hosted Newman University. The game proved to be a nail-biter, with Newman University ultimately securing a victory in 10 innings with a final score of 7-4.

Newman University set the tone early, racking up seven runs on eight hits despite committing three errors in the field. Southwestern College made a valiant effort, tallying four runs on four hits while committing just one error.

The action kicked off in the 2nd inning when Southwestern's Will Johannsen scored on a fielding error by Newman's second baseman, giving the Builders an early 1-0 lead.

Newman University wasted no time responding, with N. Chasey's double in the 3rd inning bringing home H. Brown to tie the game at 1-1. E. Wohl then capitalized on a throwing error, advancing to second and allowing Chasey to score, putting Newman ahead 2-1.

Newman continued to pile on the runs in the 3rd inning, with J. Schneider's single driving in another run, followed by W. Bomersbac's RBI single, extending their lead to 4-1.

Southwestern College fought back, with Logan Gage grounding out to shortstop, bringing in Zach Boone and narrowing the deficit to 4-2. In addition, Boone drew a walk in the 4th inning to bring home Tyler Seboldt, narrowing the deficit to 4-3.

In a tense 5th inning, Southwestern tied the game at 4-4 thanks to Trevor Abitia's sacrifice fly that brought Logan Gage home.

The game remained deadlocked until the 10th inning when Newman University's T. Trammell broke the tie with a single, bringing in J. Kiser and giving Newman a 5-4 lead. Newman didn't stop there, as J. Kinneberg's single drove in two more runs, sealing the victory for Newman University with a final score of 7-4.
