WINFIELD, Kan. — In a commanding senior night performance, No. 9 Southwestern College (22-4, 17-4) defeated McPherson College (16-10, 11-9), 103-68.
Southwestern's offensive firepower was on full display as they shot an impressive 58.8 percent from the field for the game. And an even more impressive 61.29 percent in the second half alone. As a team, the Builders made 14 three pointers, 50 percent from beyond the arc. One of those second-half three pointers came from a questionable non backcourt violation that wasn't called, and
Cevin Clark tracked the ball down, and with only a couple seconds left on the shot clock, Clark banked in a half court heave as the buzzer sounded.
The Moundbuilders outrebounded McPherson with a commanding 42-31 advantage.
Andrew O'Brien grabbed 9 rebounds and
Mason Thiessen hauled in 6 rebounds.
Clark led all scorers with 23 points, and senior night starter,
Damari Gatewood finished with 14 points. Gatewood shot 100%, 5-5 from the field and 4-4 from the three-point line.
Jarvis Jennings finished with 10 points, and
Justin DeMaria had 13 points.
