WINFIELD, KAN. – On Wednesday, February 7
th, the Southwestern College women's basketball squad hosted play to the visiting Eagles of Oklahoma Wesleyan University at Stewart Field House in Winfield, Kan.
In an intense showdown between Southwestern College and Oklahoma Wesleyan University, the game unfolded with a series of momentum shifts and standout performances. Despite a valiant effort, Southwestern College fell short, succumbing to Oklahoma Wesleyan University with a final score of 85-72.
The game began with a dominant display from Oklahoma Wesleyan University in the first quarter, where they established a commanding lead of 27-8. Their constant attacking offense yielded a field goal percentage of 48.00%, putting Southwestern College on the defensive early on.
However, Southwestern College refused to back down, mounting a spirited comeback in the second quarter. They outscored their opponents 26-14, showcasing improved offensive efficiency with a field goal percentage of 47.62%. This resurgence injected a sense of competitiveness into the game, with Southwestern College narrowing the deficit heading into halftime.
The third quarter saw a closely contested battle, with both teams trading blows to maintain parity on the scoreboard. Southwestern College managed to match Oklahoma Wesleyan University's output, each team scoring 16 points. Despite a slight dip in field goal percentage for both sides, the game remained tightly contested as the tension mounted.

Saylee Smith led the charge with an impressive 21 points and eight rebounds, demonstrating her scoring prowess and impact on the court.
Kennedy Ford contributed 13 points and three rebounds, while
Christy Wiebe made her presence felt with 12 points, 14 rebounds, and three blocks, showcasing her versatility and defensive prowess.
The Builders will be back on February 10th at 3:00 p.m. when they battle Bethel College at North Newton, Kan.
