SILOAM SPRINGS, Ark. - Men's soccer dropped a 3-1 decision to John Brown on the road Saturday. The Builders struggled to generate offense against a strong Golden Eagles team, managing only five shots with two on target.
John Brown took the lead early with a goal by Alonso Arrieta in the 7th minute. The Golden Eagles extended their lead shortly after halftime, with Atim Roper scoring in the 50th minute off an assist from Arrieta.
The Builders responded in the 58th minute when
Eduardo Gonzalez netted his first goal of the season. However, John Brown sealed the win in the 82nd minute with a goal from Marcos Miranda, assisted by Alejandro Gallardo.
Southwestern goalkeeper
KJ Masso made eight saves during his 71 minutes on the field, but the Builders were out shot 24-5 overall and 12-2 in shots on goal. The loss drops Southwestern to 0-1 on the season.
The Moundbuilders will be back in action for the home opener on Sunday, September 1 at 3pm, hosting William Woods University.
