Threshers End Builders Three Game Conference Win Streak

WINFIELD, Kan. - The Bethel Threshers put together a solid performance on the road, defeating Southwestern 81-68 in a well-balanced effort.

Nick Bonner led the way with 20 points. Carmelo Yakubu added 16 points and nine rebounds, while Cade Kittrell chipped in 14 points and five rebounds. Eli Wiseman also contributed 12 points and four steals, disrupting Southwestern's offense.

The Threshers established control in the first half, taking a 41-34 lead into the break. Bethel's efficient shooting, including a 50% clip from beyond the arc in the first half, played a key role in building their lead. Despite struggling from three in the second half (0-6), Bethel continued to dominate inside and at the free-throw line. They converted 12-of-16 free throws in the final two quarters and kept Southwestern at bay with strong rebounding and defensive pressure.

Wyatt Bell carried the Moundbuilders with a game-high 25 points, but it wasn't enough to overcome Bethel's balanced attack.

Southwestern struggled from deep, shooting just 30% from three, and only managed 63.2% from the free-throw line.

Justin DeMaria provided a spark off the bench with 10 points, while Zach Hidalgo controlled the boards with 11 rebounds.

However, turnovers and missed opportunities proved costly.

The Builders are on the road next at York University, Saturday, Feb. 1, tip off set for 3 p.m.
