WINFIELD, Kan. — Southwestern quarterback Jamie Odom accounted for six total touchdowns and receiver Joe Smyth found the end zone four times as the Moundbuilders fought to an emphatic 53–21 victory over Saint Mary on Saturday afternoon.
Odom completed 21 of 37 passes for 302 yards and five touchdowns while rushing for 99 yards and another score to lead a dominant offensive performance. Smyth shined in all phases, rushing for 187 yards and two touchdowns and adding 95 yards and two more scores through the air.
The Moundbuilders struck quickly, driving 65 yards on their opening possession before Odom powered into the end zone from nine yards out. After Saint Mary answered, Odom connected with Matthew Holthusen on a 12-yard touchdown and Smyth added a 13-yard scoring run to extend the lead to 19–7.
Before halftime, Odom and Smyth linked up again on a 59-yard strike to push Southwestern ahead 26–14. The pair continued their rhythm in the second half, with Odom finding Bryce Chambers for a 5-yard score and capping the game on a 14-yard touchdown pass to Smyth as time expired.
Southwestern's offense piled up 641 total yards — 339 on the ground and 302 through the air — while converting 8 of 13 third downs. Holthusen caught seven passes for 58 yards and two touchdowns, and kicker Jeremiah Schaefer was perfect on three extra-point attempts.
Defensively, Isaiah Yehudah led the Moundbuilders with nine tackles, and Elijah Moroney added eight stops with one and a half tackles for loss. Southwestern's defense also forced a key interception and limited Saint Mary to just 309 total yards.
The Moundbuilders will travel to Salina to take on Kansas Wesleyan and wrap up the 2025 campaign on November 15th. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
