WINFIELD, Kan. — Southwestern College senior guard Macey Pond has been named the KCAC Offensive Player of the Week after delivering one of the most complete performances of the season in the Lady Builders' 81-63 win at Hesston College.
Pond, a 5-foot-9 guard from South Haven, Kan., turned in a triple-double with 27 points, 12 rebounds and 11 assists while playing all 40 minutes. She shot 57.9 percent from the field, added a block and committed just one turnover in the victory.
Her 27-point outing came on 11-of-19 shooting, including two three-pointers, and she went 3-of-4 at the free-throw line. Pond's impact extended across the floor as she grabbed five offensive rebounds, seven defensive boards and directed the offense with poise, posting an 11-to-1 assist-to-turnover ratio.
Through eight games this season, Pond has been the driving force for Southwestern. She is averaging 17.5 points per game and is shooting 43.3 percent overall. She has knocked down 12 three-pointers, is hitting 77.4 percent at the free-throw line and has totaled 140 points while starting every game.
Behind Pond's leadership, the Lady Builders sit at 4-4 on the year as they continue conference play.
