SALINA, Kan. — Southwestern College struggled on both ends of the floor Saturday, falling to Kansas Wesleyan 106-54 in a conference matchup at Mabee Arena.
The Moundbuilders (3-19, 3-17) had no answer for the Coyotes' (21-5, 17-3) high-powered offense, allowing over 100 points for the second time this season. Kansas Wesleyan shot 58% from the field and connected on 14 three-pointers, while Southwestern managed just 32.8% shooting overall.
Haven Matthews led Southwestern with 18 points on 6-of-17 shooting, adding five rebounds and three assists. Callie Scott chipped in 11 points, while Kennedy Ford had nine points off the bench. Christy Wiebe pulled down a team-high nine rebounds but was limited to six points.
Kansas Wesleyan took control early, racing out to a 31-16 lead after the first quarter before outscoring Southwestern 30-6 in the second. The Coyotes led 61-22 at halftime and never looked back, holding Southwestern to just eight assists while forcing 19 turnovers.
The Coyotes had five players in double figures, led by LaMyah Ricks with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Paige Chauncey added 16 points, while Catherine Bowman contributed 14.
Southwestern returns home to face Friends University in Winfield, looking to snap a five-game losing streak.
