WINFIELD, Kan. — Southwestern College rallied late in the fourth quarter to secure a hard-fought 82-78 victory over Friends University on Feb 19 at Stewart Field House.
The Moundbuilders (4-19, 4-17) put together one of their best offensive performances of the season, led by Macy Pond's 19 points on 7-of-10 shooting. Christy Wiebe registered a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds, adding four blocks to anchor the defense.
Friends (17-10, 15-6) controlled the paint early, scoring 56 points inside, but Southwestern responded with timely perimeter shooting. The Moundbuilders knocked down eight three-pointers, including key shots from Haven Mathews and Kennedy Ford, who combined for 23 points.
After trailing 61-58 entering the final quarter, Southwestern surged ahead with a 24-point fourth quarter, fueled by clutch free throws and key defensive stops. The Builders capitalized on Friends' 17 turnovers, scoring 16 points off giveaways.
