SPRINGFIELD, Mo. —
Southwestern College continued to show strength in doubles play, securing a key win but ultimately falling 6-1 to Evangel University in a women's tennis dual match on.
The doubles team of Alexis Kersten and Natalie Blaufuss remained unbeaten on the season, improving to 2-0 with a convincing 6-2 victory over Evangel's Mauck and Seers. Their chemistry and aggressive play at the net set the tone early for the Moundbuilders.
In singles play, Kersten delivered a strong performance, defeating Brown 6-3, 6-2 to earn Southwestern's lone point in the match. Blaufuss showed flashes of strong shot-making but fell to Bjelica, 0-6, 0-6. Despite the final score, the Moundbuilders showed competitive spirit and stayed aggressive throughout the match.
The Builders are back in action March 11 at Bethel College.
