WINFIELD, Kan. — The Southwestern Moundbuilders swept a doubleheader against Randall University at Broadway Sports Complex, with pitcher Jacob Kramlich delivering a record-tying performance in Game 2.
In the opener, Southwestern secured a 7-2 victory, using a steady offensive attack to build an early lead. Randall managed to plate single runs in the third and fourth innings, but the Moundbuilders' pitching kept them in check. Brandon Swanson (3.1 IP, 4 ER, 5 H, 4 BB, 2 K) took the loss for Randall, while Southwestern's bullpen shut the door in the later innings.
The highlight of the day came in Game 2, where Jacob Kramlich turned in a historic outing, going the distance in a 2-1 complete-game victory, tying the Southwestern program's single-game strikeout record with 11. Kramlich scattered four hits, walked two, and controlled the Randall lineup from start to finish. His lone blemish came in the sixth inning when Peyton Wilson launched a solo home run, accounting for Randall's only run of the game.
Southwestern provided just enough offense to back Kramlich's dominant performance, pushing across a pair of runs while capitalizing on Randall's defensive miscues. Colton Berry (0-for-2, 2 K, HBP) and Jace Hernden (0-for-3, 3 K) were among the victims of Kramlich's overpowering outing.
With the win, Kramlich etches his name into the Southwestern record book, now tied for third-most strikeouts in a single game.
Southwestern will look to carry the momentum into its next matchup as they face Sterling College on Tuesday, March 18th. First pitch is scheduled for 2:00 PM.
