Lady Builders Aim to Continue Momentum at Mark A. Phillips Invitational
Winfield, Kan. – The Southwestern College Lady Builders are set to compete at the Mark A. Phillips Invitational against Cowley College. Field events will begin at 11:00 a.m., followed by track events at 12:00 p.m.
After a series of outstanding performances at their last meet, the Lady Builders are eager to carry that momentum forward. Several athletes set
personal records (PRs) and made significant improvements, positioning the team for success as they look to push for top placements.
Kyah Hill has been a standout performer, recently clocking 12.37 seconds in the 100-meter dash, securing
10th all-time in school history. She also broke the school record in the 200 meters, finishing in 24.65 seconds, shaving 0.46 seconds off her previous best and surpassing the mark set in 2022
. Mikyeashia Wilson also recorded a lifetime best in the 100 meters with a time of 13.76 seconds. In the 200 meters,
Abigail Eckert improved to 27.83 seconds, while Wilson set another PR with a 30.52-second finish.
The Lady Builders also excelled in the field events.
Malia Pearson recorded a
lifetime best in the shot put with a throw of 10.44 meters.
Vanessa Mendoza had a strong showing in both the discus and hammer throw, setting PRs of 30.86 meters and 34.39 meters, respectively. Impressively, each of her three attempts in the hammer throw surpassed her previous career-best mark.
With these strong performances leading into the meet, the Lady Builders will look to build on their success and compete at a high level once again at Cowley College.
