Southwestern routed Sterling 6-1 on Saturday in KCAC men's soccer, moving into a tie for first place in the conference.
The Moundbuilders (6-3, 3-1 KCAC) outshot the Warriors 28-6 and handed Sterling (2-5-1, 0-4) their fourth straight league loss.
Connor Inlow opened the scoring in the second minute from Jack Bagley-Etheridge. Bagley-Etheridge scored in the 39th minute from Inlow and added another in the 40th from Bernabe Lopez to make it 3-0 at halftime.
Sterling goalkeeper Cassidy Kelly was sent off with a red card in the 47th minute, and Bagley-Etheridge completed his hat trick seconds later. He scored again in the 56th from Inlow to make it 5-0.
Sterling got on the board in the 67th minute when Daniel Stone scored from Jonathan Torres. Southwestern finished the scoring in the 89th when Christian Banda converted from Luis Hermida.
Bagley-Etheridge finished with four goals and an assist, giving him 13 goals this season and six in conference play. Southwestern put 15 shots on target while Sterling managed six overall.
Southwestern plays at Oklahoma Wesleyan on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. The Eagles have won the last six KCAC championships but currently trail the Builders in the standings.
