WICHITA, Kan. — No. 20 Friends opened with a 26-point first quarter and never trailed Wednesday night, defeating Southwestern 94-36 in KCAC play at Wichita.
The Lady Builders (4-23, 0-21) were led by Breanna Goad, who scored a team-high 12 points behind four 3-pointers. Macey Pond and Martha De La Rosa added seven points apiece, while Kennedy Ford pulled down a team-best seven rebounds. Allyson Frank chipped in six rebounds off the bench.
Southwestern finished 5 of 6 from the free-throw line and scored 12 points in the fourth quarter, its highest-scoring period of the night.
Friends (22-5, 16-5) shot 61.9% from the field and placed four players in double figures, led by Lauryn McIver's 20 points. The Falcons built a 53-19 halftime advantage and extended the lead in the second half.
Southwestern will close out the regular season Saturday, Feb. 21 at 1 p.m. against the University of Saint Mary (Kan.) on Senior Night at Stewart Field House.
