Builders Drop Weekend Series to Tabor Despite Strong Offensive Efforts

WINFIELD, Kan. — Southwestern College dropped all three games in its Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference series against Tabor College over the weekend at the Broadway Sports Complex, with the Bluejays posting wins of 14-4, 15-6, and 12-9.

Game 1 — Tabor 14, Southwestern 4
Tabor took control early and never relinquished the lead in the opener. The Bluejays received big offensive contributions from first baseman Eric Calder, who homered and drove in multiple runs, along with homers by Kaison Overbey and Judah Powell. Infielder Jose Narvaez also went deep for Tabor.

Southwestern's offense was paced by Koda Larson and outfielder Sam Benz reaching base, but the Builders managed just four runs. Designated hitter Brice Nittler belted a key extra-base hit, while utility player Gabe Rodriguez and catcher Preston Carrillo added knocks.

Game 2 — Tabor 15, Southwestern 6
In the nightcap, Tabor raced out to an early advantage and sealed the win thanks to a six-run sixth inning. Bluejay outfielder Easton Norris homered and knocked in multiple runs, while catcher/infielder Logan McGuire delivered a three-RBI double. Pitcher Brayden Berens earned the victory on the mound.

Southwestern's offense featured a strong showing from Raisean Dorsey, who reached base twice, and Braden Roberts delivered a clutch RBI. Nittler and Benz each recorded hits, while Rodriguez scored for the Builders.

Game 3 — Tabor 12, Southwestern 9
The series finale was a back-and-forth affair. Tabor's Norris starred with multiple hits and scored several runs, while Zepeda delivered run-scoring hits in key situations. Overbey continued his offensive pace with multiple knocks.

Southwestern rallied in spurts, keyed by a four-hit performance from Raisean Dorsey and consistent contact from Nittler and Rodriguez. Perez added an RBI later in the game, and Carrillo drove in a run in the late innings.

Despite a strong offensive effort by the Moundbuilders across the series, the Bluejays' timely hitting and big innings proved decisive.

Southwestern returns to KCAC play, looking to regroup after the tough home series against the Ottawa Braves on Friday, February 27th. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m. from the Dick Peters Sports Complex.
