WINFIELD, Kan. — Freshman JJ Crawford (Paola, Kan.) represented Southwestern College with a strong debut season during the 2025-26 indoor campaign, highlighted by a seventh-place finish in the triple jump at the KCAC Indoor Track & Field Championships and selection to the KCAC All-Conference Honorable Mention list.
Competing at the 2026 KCAC Indoor Championship on Feb. 13-14, Crawford posted a collegiate-best mark of 13.43 meters (44' 0.75") in the triple jump to place seventh in the finals. The performance secured his spot among the conference's top competitors and earned him All-KCAC Honorable Mention recognition.
Crawford showed steady progression throughout the indoor season. He opened his campaign at the Washburn Alumni Invite on Dec. 6 with a mark of 13.32 meters (43' 8.5") in the triple jump. In January, he placed seventh at the Friends University First-Chance Qualifier with a jump of 13.07 meters (42' 10.75") before improving to 13.27 meters (43' 6.5") at the Wichita State Coach Wilson Invitational later that month.
In addition to his success in the triple jump, Crawford recorded a season-best leap of 6.56 meters (21' 6.25") in the long jump at the KCAC Championships, finishing 11th overall.
Crawford's consistent improvement throughout the indoor slate culminated in his top-seven conference finish, positioning the Paola native as a key contributor for the Moundbuilders moving forward.
