WINFIELD, Kan. — Southwestern returns to action Tuesday afternoon, hosting Evangel in a Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference doubleheader at Broadway Sports Complex.

First pitch is set for 2 p.m., with game two to follow at 4 p.m.

The Moundbuilders (8-32, 2-22 KCAC) are looking to bounce back and build momentum late in the season. Southwestern has shown offensive potential at times, highlighted by a doubleheader sweep of Kansas Christian earlier this month in which the Builders combined for 27 runs.

Southwestern is led at the plate by Taylor Mesna, who enters the week hitting .402, while Lainey Hardman (.345) and Tiara Henry (.273) have provided additional production throughout the lineup.

Evangel (37-9, 19-5 KCAC) enters the matchup as one of the conference's top teams, featuring a balanced attack on both sides of the ball. The Valor are hitting .316 as a team and are anchored by Kenna Mayfield (.458) and Naomi Perkins (.397).

In the circle, Evangel is led by Maddy Meierer, who owns a 20-3 record with a 1.14 ERA, helping pace a pitching staff that has held opponents to a .195 batting average this season.

For Southwestern, limiting big innings and capitalizing on scoring opportunities will be key against one of the league's most complete teams.
