WICHITA, Kan. — Southwestern College was shut out Tuesday in a 12-0 loss to Friends University at Westside Field.
Friends (22-18) broke the game open early, scoring once in the first inning before erupting for six runs in the second to take control. The Falcons added two more runs in the third and three in the fifth to cap the scoring.
Southwestern (11-28) managed four hits in the contest, with Brice Nittler recording the team's only extra-base hit with a double. Koda Larsen, Nathan Perez and Preston Carrillo each added a hit for the Moundbuilders.
Friends' Seth Wright earned the win, tossing six shutout innings while allowing three hits and striking out 10. Garrett Richards took the loss for Southwestern after allowing six runs in the first inning of work.
Miles Hartman led Friends offensively with three runs and two RBIs, while Bernie Socarras drove in three runs as part of a 10-hit effort for the Falcons.
Southwestern returns to action Friday, April 10, when it opens a three-game series against York University. First pitch is scheduled for 5 p.m. Friday, with a doubleheader set for Saturday beginning at 12 p.m.
