WINFIELD, Kan. — Nine Southwestern College football players were named to the All-KCAC Bissell Division Preseason Team ahead of the 2026 season, highlighting a group of returning Moundbuilders on both sides of the ball.

Quarterback Jamie Odom, running back Christian Steward, wide receiver Bryce Chambers, offensive linemen Caleb Phillips and Austin Tener, defensive linemen Carl Malvo and Elijah Moroney, linebacker Isaiah Yehudah and defensive back Britt Wittschen earned preseason recognition.

Odom returns to lead the Southwestern offense after establishing himself as a dual-threat quarterback during the 2025 season. He threw for 3,188 yards and 39 touchdowns while adding 11 rushing touchdowns.

Steward and Chambers return after injuries limited both players last season.

Steward appeared in two games, rushing for 135 yards on 21 carries. Chambers suffered an early-season injury before working his way back into the lineup for the final five games. He finished the season with 22 receptions for 357 yards.

Phillips and Tener helped anchor an offensive line that paved the way for an extremely productive rushing attack. The Moundbuilders totaled 2,367 rushing yards and 33 touchdowns as part of an offense that averaged 51.9 points per game in 2025.

Southwestern also placed four players on the defensive preseason team.

Malvo returns as a leader along the defensive front after recording 30 tackles and two sacks last season. Moroney totaled 37 tackles and a team-leading four sacks.

Yehudah will again play a key role at linebacker after finishing second on the team with 55 tackles in 2025.

Wittschen rounds out Southwestern's preseason selections after an impressive season in the secondary. He recorded 50 tackles and three sacks last year.

Southwestern opens its 2026 campaign against Bethel College on Aug. 29 in North Newton, Kansas. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m.
